DORNBUSCH-PERIFANOVA-DORNBUSCH is based in Basel, Switzerland and was founded in 2002 by two Swedish sisters, Åsa Dornbusch (mezzo-soprano) and Karin Dornbusch (clarinet), along with the Bulgarian pianist, Stefka Perifanova.

DORNBUSCH-PERIFANOVA-DORNBUSCH consists of an unusual and interesting trio combination with a large variety of musical expressions. Their repertoire stretches from folk music, classical, romantic to contemporary compositions and includes works for solo, duo and trio.

Their last concerts took place in Spain and Switzerland this year and they have been invited to perform at the music festival "Pite älvdals festspel", and later this year in Bern, Switzerland. Together with the Chinese agency WU-PROMOTION they are working on a concert tour for the year 2004 with concerts at the Beijing Concert Hall and Shanghai Concert Hall, among others.

The three musicians are frequently engaged as soloists.

The winner of the soloist prize in Sweden (1996), Karin Dornbusch, is now recording her third CD with Caprice Records which will include among other works, Carl Nielsen's Clarinet concerto. She has performed as a soloist at the Vienna Concert Hall, Birmingham Concert Hall, Frankfurt Alter Oper, Athens Concert Hall and Stockholm Concert Hall.

Her sister, Åsa Dornbusch was awarded in 2001 the Incorporation of Weavers Award "for a highly talented student of the Royal Scottish Academy". Until May 2004 she will be performing the role of Cherubino in W. A. Mozart's Le Nozze di Figaro at the Anhaltisches Theater Dessau in Germany, and has appeared in both concerts and opera performances at the Edinburgh Festival Theatre, Theatre Royal in Glasgow, The Liverpool Philharmonic Hall and Batignano Opera festival in Italy

Stefka Perifanova has on numerous occasions performed as a soloist with orchestras such as Bern Symphony orchestra, Basel Symphony orchestra, Oporto National Orchestra and the Tchaikowsky State Symphony Orchestra of Moscow, and she has been awarded first prize in competitions like Concurso Internacional de Musica da cidade do Porto, Eduard Tchumi-Musik Preis in Bern
and Piano 80 in Bern Nenov in Bulgaria and Swiss Lyceum Clubs international competition for female pianists.



DORNBUSCH-PERIFANOVA-DORNBUSCH grundades år 2002 i Basel, Schweiz av de två svenska systrarna, mezzosopranen Åsa Dornbusch, klarinettisten Karin Dornbusch och den bulgariska pianisten Stefka Perifanova. Denna ovanliga och intressanta trio-kombination har många uttrycksmöjligheter med en repertoar som sträcker sig från klassiska, romantiska till nutida kompositioner med varierande solo- duo- och trioverk. 
De har nyligen framträtt i Spanien och i Schweiz och de har fått inbjudan att medverka vid Pite älvdals festspel sommaren 2003 och senare samma år i Bern, Schweiz. 
År 2004 planeras en turné till Kina i sammarbete med Wu-Promotion (www.wupromotion.com) med konserter bl a i Pekings konserthus och Shanghai konserthus.

Utöver sin trioverksamhet är alla tre musiker eftertraktade solister. 1996 års solistpristagare, Karin Dornbusch, ger ut sin tredje CD-skiva år 2003/2004 på Caprice Records med skandinaviska klarinettkonserter tillsammans med Gävle Symfoniorkester under ledning av Petri Sakari. Hon har engagerats som klarinettsolist av bl a Wiens Konserthaus, Birmingham Concert Hall, Frankfurt Alte Oper, Atens konserthus och Stockholms konserthus.

Hennes syster, Åsa Dornbusch tilldelades år 2000 priset The Incorporation of Weavers Award "for a highly talented student of the Royal Scottish Academy". Hon är fram till år 2004 anställd som gästsolist för rollen Cherubino i Le Nozze di Figaro vid Anhaltisches Theater Dessau,Tyskland och har gjort både opera och konsert framträdanden som solist bl a på Batignano operafestival i Italien, Edinburgh Festival Theatre, Theatre Royal i Glasgow, Liverpool Philharmonic Hall och Opera i Ystad.

Stefka Perifanova har vid ett flertal tillfällen engagerats som solist med symfoniorkestrar som t ex Basel symfoniorkester, Bern symfoniorkester, Oporto National Orchestra och Tschaikowsky State Symphony Orchestra of Moscow och hon har tilldelats första pris i tävlingarna Concurso Internacional de Musica da cidade do Porto, Eduard Tchumi-Musik Preis i Bern, Piano 80 i Bern, Nenov i Bulgarien och Swiss Lyceum Clubs international competition for female pianists.

studied with Ingvar Wixell before continuing her education at the Guildhall School of Music and Drama in London with David Pollard. She graduated 2001 from the Alexander Gibson Opera School in Scotland where she studied with Patricia Hay, and was given a Masters degree in Advanced Opera.

She has performed as a soloist at the Batignano Opera Festival, Stockholm Concert Hall, Opera i Ystad, Lyckå kammarmusikfestival and at the Liverpool Philharmonic Hall, as well as at the Opera Gala with the Royal Scottish National Orchestra, conducted by Alexander Lazarev, touring with the Scottish Ballet in C. Bensteads Carmen with performances at the Edinburgh Festival Theatre, the Theatre Royal in Glasgow and Her Majesty's Theatre in Aberdeen. She is also an accomplished lieder-and oratorio singer with performances in Germany, Sweden, England, Italy and Switzerland. 

Åsa has signed a guest contract with the Anhaltisches Theater Dessau in Germany for the season 2002-04 and will be performing the role of Cherubino in W. A. Mozart's Le nozze di Figaro, directed by Johannes Felsenstein.

She has performed important roles from the opera repertoire including: Zita in Gianni Schicci, Cherubino in Le nozze di Figaro, Galatea in Aci, Galatea é Polifemo, Mére Maria in Dialogues des Carmelites, Antonio in Antonio é Cleopatra and Varvara in Katja Kabanova.

studied with Peter Rieckhoff at the Hochschule der Künste in Berlin and also with François Benda at Musik.Akademie der Stadt Basel. She was the winner of the soloist prize in Sweden 1996 and has after that performed with orchestras such as the Swedish Radio Orchestra, the Royal Philharmonic Orchestra in Stockholm, Zagreb Symphony Orchestra, Basel Symphony Orchestra, der Basel Orchestergesellschaft, Malmö Symphony Orchestra, Norrköping Symphony Orchestra and Musica Vitae under the conductors Armin Jordan, Pavel Dešpalj, Daniel Harding, Petri Sakari and Arvo Vollmer. Karin has as part of her nomination as the Rising Star 1997/98 performed a concert series together with the pianist Erik Lanninger in at the Vienna Concert Hall, Birmingham Concert Hall, Frankfurt Alter Oper, Athen Concert Hall and Stockholm Concert Hall. She has participated in several chamber music festivals, for instance at Lapplands festspel, Båstad, Musikfestival, Fest-spillene i Elverum in Norway and at the St.Markusfestival in Zagreb as well as in contemporary ensembles like Ensemble Modern in Frankfurt and Klangforum Wien.

Her CD recording of Aaron Copland's clarinet concerto together with Musica Vitae and the conductor Peter Csaba was released after the successful debut album Clarinet which she recorded together with the pianist Erik Lanninger. The third CD from Caprice Record will among other works include Carl Nielsens Clarinet concerto together with Gävle Symphony Orchestra and the conductor Petri Sakari.

graduated 1989 from the National Music Academy in Sofia, Bulgaria where she studied for professor Ganev and was thereafter appointed a teaching position.

After having received the desirable Cyrllius and Methodius award in 1993 her studies continued in Switzerland at Musik Akademie der Stadt Basel and the Music Academy in Bern for Gèrard Wyss, Rudolf Buchbinder and Bruno Canino with the denominations Konzertreife, Solistendiplom and with the "cum laude".

She has been awarded first price in competitions like Concurso Internacional de Musica da cidade do Porto, Eduard Tchumi-Musik Preis in Bern, Piano 80 in Bern, Nenov in Bulgaria and Swiss Lyceum Clubs international competition for female pianists and she has also participated in master classes for Vera Gornostaeva, Germaine Mounier, Rudolf Buchbinder, Paul Badura-Skoda and Peter Feuchtwanger.

Stefka has performed as a soloist with several orchestras such as Bern Symphony orchestra, Basel Symphony orchestra, Oporto National Orchestra, the Tchaikowsky State Symphony Orchestra of Moscow and has appeared with recitals and chamber music programs in Europe, Bulgaria and South America.

Among her many performances includes also radio and television broadcastings as well as CD recordings. She is now working at the music academy in Winterthur-Zürich since 1999.
